finally! I finished this cross stitching pattern:
While at Dumaguete, I learned how to cross stitch from an ex nun. She happened to be a friend of my aunt and is perhaps one of the coolest ex nuns I could ever meet. Anyway, I'm totally hooked to this new found hobby despite it being quite time consuming and socially isolating. Because I've been making this as a gift I've been trying to get it done as quickly as possible hence, have kept myself indoors cross stitching like a crazy, widowed retiree.
I wanted to make something like a pouch or envelope containing photos to post to our relos. I thought it'd be nicer than just emailing the photos.
So this is the inside with a sample photo and it folds in half like a book:
I had a different idea for how to hold in the photos but it didn't work out so this had to do. It's just a piece of ribbon sewed at the sides and centre. Oh, if you've ever wondered how to stop the cut end of a ribbon from fraying, you can just hold the cut end piece over a candle (not too close of course) and it should melt. Also cut the ribbon at a slight angle (not too steep though) and just in case, have some water nearby.
If you're curious I got the cross stitching pattern from this book:
There's some really cute, simple designs in there and I really like the bright colour themes of most of them. Some samples:
Though this book was published in Japan 1975 and distributed throughout the U.S. Hmm, I guess it wouldn' hurt to browse through second hand book stores.
